Notes from this episode:
A fresh start. A new beginning.
Most of us have heard the accusations regarding our writing.
Accusations like:
- “You’ll never finish your book.”
- “You’re not qualified to be an author.”
- “Nobody wants to hear your story.”
- “Who are you to publish a book?”
- “You’ve done too many shameful things.”
- “You’re not smart enough.”
- “Nobody in your family ever succeeds at anything.”
- “You’re a failure.”
- …and on it goes
And the Lord said to Satan, “I, the Lord, reject your accusations, Satan. Yes, the Lord, who has chosen Jerusalem (CJ & Shelley) rebukes you. This man is like a burning stick that has been snatched from the fire.” – Zechariah 3:2 NLT
How many of you feel like a ‘burning stick that has been snatched from the fire’?
Zechariah 3:3-5 – You and I have been given NEW clothes and a fresh start. We have each been filthy before the Lord but now stand spotless as a result of being cleansed by the blood of Jesus. Each NEW day offers NEW opportunities to write NEW words that He inspires in and through us.
We are priestly pens in the hands of the Author of Life! He’s writing something NEW through each of our unique stories.
Then the angel of the Lord spoke very solemnly to Jeshua and said, “This is what the Lord of Heaven’s Armies says: If you follow my ways and carefully serve me, then you will be given authority over my Temple and its courtyards. I will let you walk among these others standing here.” – Zechariah 3:6-7 NLT
In a similar way, the Lord speaks solemn (serious) words to us. “If you follow my ways and carefully serve me, then you will be given encouraging, inspiring, timely and authoritative words that impact those in my Church and beyond.”
“If you follow…” is conditional. We choose to follow His lead each day.
The accusations and lies from the enemy CJ mentioned earlier connect with and are received by our old self, our flesh. The enemy knows if we stay trying to live life on our own power he can have an upper hand.
We have a choice. We can die to our old self daily and choose to lift our shield of faith which extinguishers all the arrows of the enemy. In essence, it makes us “bulletproof” as we move forward into what God has called us to do.
