A lead magnet is a marketing strategy or an event that will possibly bring new subscribers. My lead magnet is a free training that I offer to build my email subscriber list.

How Did I Do It?
You know I’m real with you, I’m honest and I am not about hype. I am not about trying to make things seem better than they are, I’m real and I let you know what happened.
I want you to work smarter and not harder. I want you to get more out of the work that you do. I want you to be able to profit even while you create free trainings.
So I hope that you will learn a lot from these steps.
Create Your Lead Magnet
So the first thing that you should do is to create a free magnet. It could be a promotion, an event or an offer that will attract your subscribers and new subscribers.
I created the 5-day live video challenge using Facebook Live, on my business page. It will continue to bring new people to me for my email subscriber list, helping me grow my list.
It was an amazing challenge and actually ended up becoming a full blown course.

In the challenge I had people make decisions, fill out checklists, and it was fun watching people create their own live videos as a result of the challenge.

Trip Wire Offer
This is something that I have been doing on a more regular basis lately and have had success.
Basically, on the thank you page of your free lead magnet, you offer a separate product that is related to your lead magnet. The product should be somewhere between $7 and $97.
This particular product that I offered was a $10 product, and it was for my training that’s all about creating prerecorded videos on your iPhone.
The concept is if you are interested in live video and Facebook Live, from your mobile phone you may as well be interested in doing prerecorded videos on your phone as well. So I offered an entire training on that which you can get for just $10.
When I was setting up the challenge, I didn’t have the tripwire offer set up until after I had promoted it to my list. So the majority of people who signed up from my list didn’t see this offer on the thank you page.
As a result I decided to put the offer in the member’s area. If you’re signed up at ShelleyHitz.com/LiveVideo, you’ll be able to see exactly how I’ve set it up.
All you need to do for this step is to think of a good offer that is related to your lead magnet.
Make it Visible
The next tip that I will give you is to put your offer in a place where people will surely see it.
So as I have mentioned above, I placed my offer in the member’s area, and it is also automatically sent to whoever signs up to the challenge through the thank you page.
Once you confirm your email subscription and get access to the member’s area, you will see that I’ve added red arrows at the end of each day that point to my $10 offer.
The offer goes like this:
“Love this live video challenge? If so, Easy iPhone Videos is a perfect add on for you. This additional training will help you create prerecorded videos that look professional to help you get more exposure and sell more books all from your iPhone. For just $10 today you will get access to my Easy iPhone’s course, get started here.”
I also put a really short description to the offer and a couple more bullet points. It’s simple little offer at the bottom.

Think Long Term, Not Big Time
Don’t think that this strategy will get you rich instantly.
I haven’t sold thousands of dollars for this product. So far I have sold 12 of these but this is just the beginning. (UPDATE: Just a week later I’ve sold 20 and continue to have new sales coming in.)
This is an ongoing campaign. It is an evergreen funnel, an evergreen offer. So as long as the 5-Video Challenge is open, anyone who signs up for it will have the opportunity to upgrade to the prerecorded video training.
You must think of long term goals and not instant, big time cash.
Think about it. If you sold $120 worth of products, and let’s say you’re selling a $2.99 book on Kindle, with a $2 royalty on each, it would take you selling 60 books to earn that same amount of money.
So many authors are missing out. It is so easy to set up and you can use services like GumRoad and other things to add to your income.
Set Up Your Automation System
I always say this to you. I want you to work smarter, not harder. And I believe that setting up your automation system is going to contribute a lot to your success.
As I look back and think of what systems really worked for me, I realized that Author Automation System did it best.
To be honest, I have been successful. However it has been a “stressed success”. And as Chalene Johnson says, “we want to work towards smart success, not stressed success.”
