Did you always dream of being a published author or is this something new for you?
My nana used to say that she would always see me walking around with pen and paper in hand. I have been a journaler since I was a young girl fighting off loneliness. I have always had the desire and dream to write and publish a book.
Before joining Author Audience Academy, what was your biggest obstacle?
My biggest obstacle was discovering advice that is tailored to my genre – Christian NonFiction. Most author programs advice don’t quite suit the Christian/Faith marketing or publishing model. I also wanted to find a group of people in the same genre facing similar marketing issues
What prompted you to become a part of Author Audience Academy? Specifically, what were you looking for?
My answer would be the same as the last question – I joined because it looked like most of the group were Christian nonfiction writers who have some experience in this genre
What has been your biggest “Aha Moment” for you while in the program?
The teaching on the 90 day goal setting was pivotal for me. Instead of focusing on a year’s goals – just to boil it down to what you can achieve in 90 days. Then break that down to what you can do this week that would bring you closer to completing your 90 day goal.
What would you say to encourage other writers who are currently in Author Audience Academy along their journey? To writers considering becoming members?
Include God in your writing business. Go to Him and download His marketing plan for your books and ministry. Don’t compare your progress with anyone else. Discover what your main purpose or vision is, then arrange your marketing and publishing around that. Keep moving forward. Don’t get stuck. Every little step counts.
What’s next for you in regards to writing, publishing and marketing your books? What are you dreaming of and moving toward in this upcoming season?
I want to have 20 books published before I leave( retire) from my accounting work. I want to continue to write into my retirement but I would like a good back list by the time I am 60 – which is in 10 years time. So it is an achievable goal of 2 books a year while I am working.
