Notes from this episode:
To find your audience, start by brainstorming who you want to reach. Consider people you’ve helped and feedback from different readers. Market to everyone ends up reaching no one, so narrow down your audience. Decide where your audience hangs out online and connect with established groups.
There are three main ways to attract a new audience:
- Paid ads
- Search engine optimization (SEO)
- Collaborations
Paid ads, such as Amazon ads, require time and a learning curve but can be very effective. SEO involves optimizing your content on platforms like blogs, Pinterest, YouTube, and Amazon to attract people who are already searching for what you offer. Collaborations, like guest blogging and participating in bundles, provide a great way to reach new audiences without spending a lot of money.
Remember that building your platform solely on social media sites is risky. Finding your audience takes time and effort, but it’s possible. Whether through collaborations or ads, reaching more readers with your book is achievable.
