Notes from this episode:
Learn an invaluable 5-step marketing plan to effectively market your book.
Step One: Attract
Attracting is when you’re attracting new readers, people that haven’t heard of you yet. The 3 main ways to attract new readers are through:
- SEO (search engine optimization)
- Ads
- Collaborations
Step Two: Engage
Set up an email subscription service and create a compelling gift related to your book to ask people to join your email list. Engage your audience and nurture them through compelling content in the next two steps.
Step Three: Nurture
This is where you nurture content like a blog, podcast or email, to build a relationship with your audience. This provides guidance on effectively making offers and sales pitches, encouraging authors to believe in the value of their work and confidently promote it.
Step Four: Offer
Ask someone to buy your book. Include a call to action in all of your content. Occasionally ask your email subscribers, social media followers, and acquaintances if they are interested in your book. Adapt email marketing to include specific “make offer” emails.
Step Five: Delight
Make your book so good that it delights your reader. When you delight your reader, they’ll want to share your book with others leaving a positive and lasting impact. Ultimately, this will lead to word-of-mouth referrals and further attracting new readers.
Remember, marketing your book is not just about selling; it’s about serving and making a positive impact on your readers.
