Notes from this episode:
To self-publish a book on a limited income, having some resources would be helpful, but it’s not impossible to publish a book on a tight budget. Finding volunteers who are willing to help with editing, formatting, or creating a book cover is a possibility, especially if your book has a ministry component. Alternatively, you can consider bartering with others for the services you need.
Shelley Hitz discusses valuable tips for writers looking to self-publish their books without breaking the bank. Here are some affordable options to consider:
- The most affordable way is through a Kindle ebook, as you can get an ASIN for free without needing to purchase an ISBN.
- KDP offers free software called Kindle Create specifically to format a Kindle book.
- You can also consider using Microsoft Word to format your book with the help of tutorials available online.
- Look for affordable cover designers and editors, and don’t skimp on cover design even on a limited budget.
- Always pray and ask for provision. It’s possible to receive unexpected income to fulfill your publishing goals.
This episode reinforced the notion that financial constraints need not stifle our literary aspirations. By leveraging communal support, resourcefulness, and faith, we can surmount budgetary hurdles and attain our self-publishing goals with integrity and purpose.
