Did you always dream of being a published author or is this something new for you?
I’ve always wanted to be an author and I’ve always loved books and writing.
When I was a child, my brother and I would take books out of the bookmobile and spend summer afternoons lying on the porch reading them.
Before joining the Christian Book Academy, what was your biggest obstacle?
My biggest obstacle was not knowing what to do for so many things and having nowhere to turn for help and get questions answered.
What prompted you to become a part of the Christian Book Academy? Specifically, what were you looking for?
I was looking for help with writing, publishing, and marketing. I was also looking for somewhere to get answers to the many questions I had and to connect with other authors.
What has been your biggest “Aha Moment” for you while in the program?
There have been many discovery moments. But the biggest surprise for me as someone who takes a lot of courses and does a lot of research was discovering the value in connection. The interaction within the group, learning from and sharing with others has been so helpful and wonderfully supportive and encouraging.
What would you say to encourage other writers who are currently in the Christian Book Academy along their journey? To writers considering becoming members?
I would say, take it one step at a time and don’t try to do everything at once. Don’t give up. Keep working at your dream of being a writer and sharing your message. Because no matter how hard it may seem, if you keep taking one step at a time, you’ll get it done.
For someone who’s thinking about membership, I’d say, sign up! Christian Book Academy is amazing. There’s excellent training, support, value, and wonderful people to connect with. I’m so grateful to be a member.
What’s next for you in regards to writing, publishing and marketing your books? What are you dreaming of and moving toward in this upcoming season?
The next step for me is to record and publish the audiobook for Mindfulness: From Chaos to Calm, and to finish writing books two and three in the series.
