Notes from this episode:
In this episode, we’re diving into a common challenge faced by many authors: how to effectively market a current book while also writing your next masterpiece.
It can feel overwhelming to juggle both tasks simultaneously, but it’s more manageable than you think.
Remember that you are not alone in this struggle. Many writers face the same dilemma of whether to focus on marketing their existing books or dedicating time to writing the next one.
Finding the Balance is Essential
One effective strategy is to approach it in seasons. You can choose a specific focus for a certain period of time, typically around 90 days. During this season, you will become laser-focused on that one area, making significant progress while still managing other aspects of your writing journey.
Another approach that can be helpful is designing themed days during the week. For example, you might designate Mondays as marketing days. On these days, commit to dedicating some time to promote your work. Remember, marketing is not a “get rich quick” scheme but rather a long-term investment in building your author brand.
Consistency is key when it comes to marketing efforts. Just think about the compound effect of doing a little bit of marketing every week. If you reach out to one blogger every week, that’s 52 potential connections at the end of the year. Even if only a handful of them agree to collaborate, it’s a significant achievement.
Results are ultimately in the hands of God, so keep planting those seeds and trust in the process.
By implementing themed days, you can switch between your marketing brain and your fiction writing mode. This way, you can be fully present and focused in each area without feeling overwhelmed or scattered.
Remember, finding the balance between marketing your existing books and writing your next one is possible. It may require some experimentation to discover what works best for you, but rest assured that there are strategies and approaches to help you navigate this journey.
