In 2005 my oldest niece, Lauren, was born. It was one of the best days of my life.
My sister lived in the same town and had given me permission to be in the delivery room.
I was still working as a physical therapist at that time, so I kept calling all day to ask, “Is she here? Is she here?” and they kept saying, “Not yet, you might just make it.”
I got off work, raced to the hospital and literally walked into the delivery room when the doctor was saying, “Here comes her head!”
I was able to watch the miracle of her birth.
To this day I always say, “Lauren, you waited for Aunt Shelley didn’t you?” It was such a highlight for me to watch her being born.
And I was looking forward to the day when I would birth my own children.
A Difficult Season
However, I have not been able to have my own children. In December of 2013 I had a miscarriage. It was devastating because I was older and I knew that it might be my last chance.
All of 2014 I was numb emotionally; I was grieving that loss and what might never happen.
It was really, really difficult.
I walked through a healing process, a grieving process, and by the end of 2014, I had a breakthrough. I sensed God saying, “Shelley, it’s time to move on. It’s time for the next season.”
That next season was a few weeks later when I launched my program, Author Audience Academy. This last year has been so exciting!
One of the things that God showed me is that through this program He is using me to give birth to people’s dreams as well as birth to many, many books.
Giving Birth to a Print Book
Have you published your book in print format?
There’s something special about holding a print book in your hands that you can see, smell and feel.
When that first copy arrives in the mail, it’s a feeling that never gets old!
Even though you’ve taken an important step of publishing an eBook, you could be missing out on lots of sales with a print book. After all, many people simply don’t have a Kindle device.
Others may have a device but prefer to read a good old-fashioned print copy where they can flip the pages back & forth, highlight and add notes in the margins.
Plus, when was the last time you threw away a print book?
Even after people finish a print book, they give it away or pass it along to a friend to borrow. You never know the full impact a print book can have and all the hands that will thumb through its pages.
I want to help you give birth to your dreams.
Part of that includes helping you give birth to a print book that can impact even more people with your message.
If you’ve been interested in adding print books as an option for your readers but just haven’t got around to it, you’ll want to join me this Tuesday April 19th for my live workshop, “Kindle to Print Challenge.”
