Sometimes You Need to Let Your Hair Down

In this internet generation, people care so much about “authenticity”. It is so hard to trust people that you met online and twice harder to trust on what they are saying. Let me share to you some of the tips on how to make people trust you. Sometimes, you just have to let your hair down!

Know Who You Are

Identity is a very big factor in establishing your connection to people. With the advent of this new technology, anyone can go online and introduce something new. However, there can only be one “You”.

Your uniqueness, whatever it is, makes you stand out among others. This is only something that can make people recognize you for who you are.

Never be ashamed to show who you really are. Some people may not like it, that’s true. However, people will always appreciate honesty. And being true to your self is honesty in its rawest form.

Know who you are; your strengths, weaknesses, struggles and talents. And never be afraid to show it to the world.

Show Your “Human” Side

Have you encountered a website where it asked you to enter a CAPTCHA to prove that you are not a robot?

I’m sure most of the people have. This just goes to show that people are now paranoid of bots flooding the internet.

In the same way, people are skeptical of your authenticity. They will never fully believe whatever you say online unless you show that you are “human”. How do you do this?

Never be afraid to show them the fun side beside your business self.

Share a little bit of your behind the scenes, beyond those videos that you post.

Show them that like them, you have weaknesses, you have struggles, and that you also have issues that you need to handle.

Showing this side of yourself does not make you lower in their sight.

It actually creates a connection between you and the people as they see that you are like them, one way or another. Through this, you are creating a common ground between you and your viewer.

Let People In On Some Part of Your Life

There could just be fun things that you tell people about you. Let them in on your life a little bit.

On my 40th birthday, I did a blog post about “40 Things You Don’t Know About Me”.

By doing something like this, you will discover that people are actually interested to know more about you.

You will find that when you do that, you’ll be able to really have that know, like, and trust with those that are following you.

That doesn’t mean that you have to air your dirty laundry, but that you are real.

So I encourage you, be real. Be true and just let your hair down once in a while. I tell you, you will come to like this.
