What is Your Current Goal?
We have different goals in different seasons. What is your current goal?
- Finishing your first draft
- Publishing your book
- Sell more books
- Increase your business and income by creating other products and services.
Personally, my main goal right now is to increase the members of Author Audience Academy to provide a stable income so it frees my time up to do other things (like writing more books, LOL).
Your goals may be different right now.
Many times the things that we are internally resisting is what we actually need to do to move forward on our goal.
Let me share with you an example.
Last year, my resistance was to webinars. I’m a speaker but for some reason hosting promotional webinars was a resistance point for me.
It felt overwhelming with many moving pieces – having to come up with all the slides, the emails, the sales pitch at the end, and everything that goes into a webinar.
You may have attended one of my webinars, but you may not realize everything that goes into setting up, planning, preparing, presenting, etc.
It’s a lot.
However, once you have a system, it gets a lot easier. Now, I can simply edit a few things to rinse and repeat.
I don’t know where the resistance was coming from last year. Sometimes it’s internal, a fear of the unknown or a fear of success.
Other times it may be a spiritual battle. It might have been push back because the enemy knows that what I do through my webinars will help more Christian authors reach more people with the gospel, with the message God has given them, with their testimonies, etc.
I finally had to simply buckle down, focus, and get it done.
So, I did.
And you know what?
Webinars have been the number one way we’ve added new paying members into Author Audience Academy.
There have been a few people who have randomly signed up for my academy after listening to my podcast, seeing me on periscope, or watching my YouTube videos, but by far, most of my members have come through webinars.
And yet I was resisting them.
What Are You Resisting Today?
Think about it for a moment. Maybe it’s:
- Sitting down and writing
- Promoting your books through social media
- Email marketing and finally investing in a paid service.
I resisted signing up for a paid email marketing service for many years because I had a scarcity mindset. I didn’t want to pay and have a recurring payment coming out.
And yet email marketing is the number one way I’ve sold books.
What You Are Resisting May Be What Has the Biggest Impact
What you are resisting is most likely the thing that is going to make your business and your sales take off.
Whatever you’re resisting, move forward by taking one small action today.
