We Were Locked Out of Our Jeep

We were locked out! No matter what we did, it wouldn’t budge!

The Weekend Getaway

Last weekend my husband, CJ, and I went to Glenwood Springs, CO to enjoy the fall colors here in Colorado and take some time away.

We took my bike in the back of our Jeep so I could ride along CJ during his runs. If you don’t know yet, my husband is a really good runner. And fast! The only way I can keep up with him is on my bike. LOL

When we got back from our first bike ride, the Jeep hatchback wouldn’t open. No matter what we did, it wouldn’t budge.

Instead of freaking out and allowing it to ruin our time away, I simply decided to chain my bike to a tree and come back later.

We tried again that evening, and the hatchback opened!

WooHoo!

However, that’s not the end of the story.

The next day we went on another bike ride/run. And I asked CJ if we should risk taking my bike out of the Jeep again.

He said, “Yes.” So we enjoyed an amazing ride along a river trail.

It is usually on hikes, runs, walks and bike rides in nature that I get my best ideas. And this day was no different. I got a breakthrough on a specific idea I want to implement next year.

But when we returned, guess what happened?

You guessed it right. Locked out again!!!

We brainstormed many options. We could call a locksmith. We could go to the local Target and buy a bike rack (which we need to do anyway), or we could try fitting the bike into the side doors.

Ultimately, we tried fitting the bike into the side doors, and it barely fit, but it did! WooHoo!!

Another obstacle overcame!

Obstacles in Writing

In writing a book, you will face obstacles. Not might, but WILL.

The obstacles could come in the form of writer’s block, tech issues, or even losing your manuscript if you forget to back it up (please, please, please; always backup your work).

You might face frustrations, discouragement, or lack of motivation.

And that’s why I created my 30-day nonfiction writing challenge – Write More, Write Better.

In this challenge, I share with you 30+ of my best writing tips to help you overcome the obstacles you may encounter.
