The OBS Software
Recently I promised my Author Audience Academy members a bonus training, and when I promise something I want to deliver.
So, I spent hours creating a training on how to get started with OBS. It ended up becoming a full blown course.
I finished the training and it’s in the members’ area now. If you’re a member, just click on the BONUSES Icon in your members’ area and scroll down till you see the OBS Training.
So what is this free software that I am so excited about and how can this help you market your book?
Open Broadcaster’s Software (OBS) is a free studio software that is very ideal in making live videos. OBS allows you to broadcast from your computer with your webcam and microphone, to screen share, to add cool video introductions like mine and so much more.
You can find and download this at OBSproject.com
It also allows me to repurpose my videos from Facebook Live. The output videos also fill the whole screen on YouTube and have no block bars. It has a much better audio for repurposing to my podcast. It is just great.
So here are five ways that you can use OBS.
#1: Screen Share Function
You can create screen share videos for your paying customers, Youtube channel, or whatever you need those videos for.
I actually paid for the software, Camtasia, for this function, but you can use OBS offline to create screenshare videos for free!
It records a separate video on your computer and you can use that recording however you want.
#2: Host a Live Webinar on Facebook
The second thing where you can use OBS is hosting a Live Webinar on Facebook.
The first time I used OBS for my Live webinar, my page had over 1.2 million post reach on Facebook!
I sold 9 memberships for Author Audience Academy from that webinar. It showed Facebook that people were paying attention to my page and it is helping me create a powerful Facebook page.
It also has the function to automate your video and make your webinar replay expire.
When I do webinars, I choose to have it expire two days after the live broadcast. When you use Facebook Live, you can just set it to expire on a certain time or day and leave it. It will notify you once your video has expired.
You will not have to do it on your own, which is awesome.
Facebook is favoring Live Video right now and so I was on that Live Video for 90 minutes on Facebook, which is why it got so much reach. I got hundreds of comments on that webinar as well. So people are discovering my page and learning about what I do.
OBS gives you these results when you learn how to use it on your Live Video:
- Increase your income
- Increase your impact
- Increase your reach
- Give good value to your followers.
When you are in a regular Facebook Live video, you have the square screen. So if you are doing the video with another person, you will look squished together in that square video.
With OBS, it gives a professional look on your video as it fills the entire screen. It has a widescreen feature that gives more room for a two-person broadcast.
My husband and I were able to apply this function on our recent Godly Gain segment, an inspirational broadcast where we give encouragement from the Bible.
What’s so cool is you can actually see us both in that video. We got really good feedback and a lot of people were encouraged from that video and OBS made it easier.
#4: Q&A with Followers
I did this last week in Author Audience Academy Private Facebook Group.
I took two minutes and created a screen that said, “Member Only Q&A and Accountability”. I made that a smaller part of the screen and on the other side of the screen showed my iPad through the Reflector 2 App.
Then I doodled on my iPad with an app that I have and it was so cool. I wasn’t on the screen that time but with the screen share and the app that I used through my iPad made it interactive.
I was using the Reflector App 2 that I purchased from the Apple store and using Adobe Sketch app which is a free app on Apple store. I am a Mac and an iPhone user so these are the options that I had. There could be more options available for Windows and Android users.
I always recommend that you show yourself when recording a majority of your videos. That’s the power of live video. So as much as possible, let people see you talk to them, as it makes them know you more through your expressions. This will make them trust you more.
#5 Content Marketing
Lastly, OBS makes content marketing easier for me.
You can deliver content on Facebook Live, and you can record it on OBS. The video and audio recording with OBS is good, plus you can choose different qualities of the recording.
I then take this video and audio recording and put it in Dropbox for my video and audio editor. She edits the video and audio and just adds my outro video.
The process for my content marketing is actually automated and is done with my team working for me from the video editing, transcribing until the posting of the blog into different social media sites.
So with just one video recording, my content can actually reach into different platforms and be changed into different formats.
Now I know that not all of you have the team working for you, so start your process simple.
I created a Live Video challenge for you and in the bonus training of the challenge I share seven simple ways to use and repurpose your content. You can find this challenge and sign up for free at Shelleyhitz.com/LiveVideo.
The options are really limitless and once you get it set up, your mind can get going.
I encourage you to do Live Videos. Now is the time. You don’t have to pay for Facebook Ads, it’s FREE. You can use OBS, a free software, and enjoy even more features.
Are you willing to take this step? Would you be willing to try Live Video?
I would love to help you further and I know that OBS will be a big help into your Facebook Live videos and in marketing your book.
Thanks for being here. Until next time!
